Giphy launched Giphy Arcade, a new platform that allows users to play, create and share their own Giphy-powered microgames.
Users can visit the Giphy Arcade web application on desktop browsers or mobile devices. The home screen features collections of microgames in game playlists, templates that visitors can use to create their own games and a curated selection of individual microgames for users to play.
The platform launched with Wendy’s as an exclusive launch partner. Users can play the Wendy’s World game, which combines Wendy’s icons with gameplay similar to that of classic game Breakout. This partnership with Wendy’s also gives users access to backgrounds and characters that they can use to create their own microgames.
The game creation process varies depending on whether someone is using a computer or mobile device. On a desktop, users can select their preferred background, stickers and more to create a game, while on mobile, users choose a game template and answer three questions related to it. Giphy Arcade will then automatically create a game based on their responses that they can play and share.
Users can share a game by adding its link to text messages, tweets, emails and more.
