  • Twitter Will Add the Ability to Follow Topics With a Single Tap

When Twitter officially rolled out its Topics feature for iOS last November, followed days later by Android and the web it also detailed features for Topics that it planned to test or debut this year.

The social network added to that list Thursday, saying in a blog post that in the coming months, users will be able to follow conversations about a topic the same way they currently follow an account: with a single tap.

As the social network previously detailed, suggestions for Topics to follow will appear in its timeline and search results, based on what people already follow and tend to search for.

Twitter wrote, “Previously, all of the work was on you to figure out the best way to keep up with what’s happening by following certain accounts, searching for it or looking in the Explore tab for the latest. Now, you have the option of seeing the most relevant and interesting tweets about what you care about with a single tap, and the conversation will come to you.”

The social network also shared a primer on how its Topics feature works:

To start, you’ll see Topic Follow prompts in your timeline based off of what you follow and what you’ve signaled are things you like in the same way you bump into new accounts to follow today.

Get a peek at what Topics will look like in your timeline after you follow one.

Now, when you search for the things you’re interested, you’ll be able to follow it as a Topic.

After you follow a Topic, you can manage the Topics you follow directly from your menu or on your timeline.
