Jeep Teases Groundhog Day-Themed Super Bowl Ad

OK, campers. Rise and shine! Bill Murray’s return to Punxsutawney, Pa., appears to be real. But no, it’s not a sequel; it’s a teaser for Jeep’s Super Bowl ad.

The two teasers, which Jeep released today, hint at the highly anticipated Groundhog Day remake—the Super Bowl falls on Groundhog Day this year. The first teaser shows the vintage clock radio from the film playing Sonny and Cher’s “I Got You Babe” to signal the magical realism of Phil Connors’ (played by Murray) reoccurring day.

The second features actor Stephen Tobolowsky reprising the role of annoying insurance salesman Ned Ryerson who tells us that Sunday is “going to be a doozy.” In the original film, Ned is met with a fist to the face and then a hug upon Phil’s redemption.

While Murray isn’t in the teaser, he was spotted shooting something in the same Chicago suburb that stood in for Punxsutawney.
