Mobile attribution and data analytics company AppsFlyer released the 10th edition of its Performance Index, which analyzes the performance of mobile media sources. For this report, AppsFlyer analyzed 21 billion application installations and 52 billion app opens across more than 16,000 apps from July through December 2019.
The report showed that, for the first time, Google Ads claimed the No. 1 spot on AppsFlyer’s global “Power Ranking” chart for Android and iOS combined (AppsFlyer said the Power Ranking chart “combines quantity and quality factors.”) Facebook Ads came in second place on this chart.
Google Ads and Facebook Ads were also ranked one and two, respectively, on the global Android Power Ranking chart, although Facebook Ads was No. 1 on iOS.
Facebook Ads also took the top position on AppsFlyer’s Retargeting Index, with Google Ads in second and Criteo in third.
Finally, TikTok Ads took the No. 1 spot on AppsFlyer’s global Growth Index.
The report reads, “2019 was the year TikTok went all-in on its media business with the introduction of TikTok Ads. After capturing the No. 1 spot in the H1 Growth Index, H2 marked its inclusion in the power club, reaching the fourth position in the non-gaming universal volume ranking. Overall, its share of the app install pie has jumped 120% in Edition X.”
